The Wonders of Honey
In celebration of National Honey Month, I’d like to give the spotlight to this sweet stuff right here – Honey! As we all know, honey is widely used all over the nation for quite a long time now. Not only does it make your tea tastes better, but it can also enhance the flavor and taste of foods.
Honey is made by bees using the nectar from the flowers. The flavor of a particular type of honey varies depending on the type of flower from which the nectar was harvested.

Honey has been used in medicine for over 5,000 years! It is low in water and high in sugar, which means bacteria cannot grow on it. According to Medical Daily, yes – honey is sweet but can be cruel to infants. Spores of Clostridium botulinum bacteria — found in dirt and dust, which can contaminate honey — may lead to infant botulism and produce a toxin inside the body that can cause muscle weakness and breathing problems.
Before jumping on to enumerating the health benefits of honey, here at Greengold Farms, we did a little comparison review over two different brands of honey which were bought on Lazada here in the Philippines. My purpose for this review is to answer these basic questions – Would there be a huge difference in terms of the taste? Color? Etc., will I get a better experience with the one which has a higher value compare to the cheaper one? Let’s jump into it and here’s my conclusion and analysis:
So I got two bottles of honey from two different brands and seller. One is from Manny’s Premium amounting 338php. While the other one is from Manna Naturals amounting 299php. Note that they both claim that they’re 100% raw honey.
-
Sweeter
-
Darker
-
Thicker
-
Used plastic bottle (Doesn’t bother me)
-
Has more flavor
-
Not as sweet as Manna Naturals’
-
Thick but a little runny
-
Has a better packaging (Sturdy and presentable – perfect for gifts)
Over-all, I believe they both perform to their claims. We’ve used them at the same amount of tablespoons on our teas, and got to taste it. It’s a hard call actually. But if I have to pick only one, I’d go with Manna Naturals. Just because of it’s a bit sweeter than the other and because it’s thicker, it has more concentration of taste than that of the other. Plus it’s cheaper!
