We may all agree to this when I say that it is so hard to wake up early in the morning – especially when you’re not used to it. Sleeping feels amazing after a long day of tiring work or studying from school. Throughout the majority of my life, I had been an early riser. From elementary – ‘til I got into a University. I’ve been used to getting up by 7AM or 8AM. After graduating then eventually entered the working world and life as an office dwelling professional had begun, my alarm time continued to be push later and later. What used to be a 5:30AM alarm became 6:00AM then 6:30AM. That left me approximately 30 minutes to shower and prepare before heading out our house and travel to work.

Slowly I started noticing some negative downsides on my energy levels, productivity, and mood. It is then that I thought “I need to do something”, for it is not helping my whole being as a worker and as a person as a whole.

Finally Decided to Wake Up at 5am

It is only June of this year when I decided to make that drastic change or myself and so I set my alarm at 5:00am. I must admit that the first couple of days were really tough. However, in time that I practiced it, I started to feel great, really great.

Benefits to Waking Up at 5am

I have to move right away when I wake up late. Shower fast, dress up fast, move fast. I can’t even eat breakfast anymore. Every hour you spend sleeping is an hour you could be using for something else in the mornings. Sleep is important however; oversleeping can cut you short on time.

When I wake up late then arrive at work, I would sometimes stare at my screen wondering why I have no good ideas, no creativity, and a little drive on getting my work done. And that was because I wasn’t warming up. Now, when I’m waking up at 5am, I have more time to do few things for myself so I can warm up.

Before, I often woke up scattered and in a rush to get to work, which left me no time to think about the day ahead and think around what I wanted to accomplish.  Figuring out this personal time in the early morning is energizing for the entire day. I was much more focused on the tasks at hand and less anxious about my responsibilities.

One thing I hate the most that happens to me a lot before was when I wake up but still feeling tired and groggy. What happened when I wake up at 5am is that I tend to go to bed earlier at night and so I will get the recommended 7 to 8 hours of sleep.

Human beings get the most beneficial hormonal secretions and recovery by sleeping during the hours of 10PM and 2AM.

Would You Do It Like I Did?

I know it can be really hard. Especially if you are not a morning person. But once you make it a habit, you’ll see the morning as your motivation and you’ll make good use of the time. There are plenty of reasons to wake up early. And we all need extra time. Hence, waking up at 5 AM every day allows you the extra time you need. But always remember that whatever you do, make the morning yours and enjoy a head start on the world.
